Love & Faith (and something unholy)

“For never shall it be said that Nature or Fortune shall overthrow Love and Faith.”

Acoustic is currently recruiting artists for a brand-new queer work! Love & Faith is a queer fever dream, drag show, and reimagining of two early modern dramas, Galatea by John Lyly, and Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare. We are looking for actors, cabaret performers, drag kings, queens and everyone in between to collaborate on an ensemble-driven piece that celebrates our unique identities and histories.

Act One, Galatea, blurs the line between a drag show and a play, telling the story of Galatea and Phillida, two women who disguise themselves as boys in order to avoid being sacrificed in the name of Neptune. While they hide, they meet one another and fall in love.  Act Two, Measure for Measure, asks the question, what happens when you wake up and find yourself in the wrong play? Isabella navigates a world of compulsory heterosexuality and religious devotion, however she gets the sense that there is another world out there, a queer utopia that she just can’t quite reach.

POC and gender-queer actors encouraged to apply.
